Dizzy Options
What are some dizzy options for use with a stock mechanical fuel pump on a type 1? Have a Msd 6AL control box. Would like to use the msd dizzy have
been told it is too wide to fit with a stock fuel pump - I am sure I have seen this done???

Hmm, the MSD looks about the same diameter as the old 60s fat boy Bosch dizzy and that fitted fine.
If you can find out the MSD diameter then just measure off from the VW dizzy to the pump and if there is interference you will know how tall the dizzy
shaft needs to be to give you clearance.
Oh, have you heard of the 123 dizzy? Could be an interesting option for you and I believe would take the place of the 6AL.

I use the Mallory vac advance distributor, has a major advantage of the MSD in the fact that it has a adjustable vacuum advance, you can change the
springs as well, it works very well on my 2275

Another distributor that works well is a Pertronics, made in the USA and should run your ignition box, but you would have to check, I tried a fuel
pump on my 2275 and it cleared the Mallory distributor with no issues.

Where do you run your vac hose to? Are those Dells?
Anyone have diameter measurements on their MSD I could have?

Both webers and dellortos have a vacuum take off as standard, the MSD is only mechanical advance, the Mallory can be purchased with or without, the
vacuum is a major advantage .

Did you also purchase the spring kit and grey spring option? The setup and accessories on this push it around $50 more than the MSD option - do you
consider it worth spending the extra money?

It works very well on my car, you will get up to 42 degrees advance on light throttle loading so you get a lot better economy, I bought the spring kit
and the power filter module, I also run a Mallory ignition box as well, the other option is to run a CB black box along with a cheaper mechanical
