73 bug restoration

Bought this beauty 2 and a half years ago. Dad finally let me buy a beetle. He started off white. The previous owners painted him with house paint... Monsters.
He needed work. Dad said that if he started, we could buy him. 2 weeks later and some new fuel, he came to life.

Bought him from Mick Motors on Toombul Rd. First thing first. Get him home.
We got him home and started to stripe him down. Everything was dirty and needed to be restored. Dad warned me how much this would cost to fix him up, I didn't care, this was my dream car.

Took him to a panel shop and 3 months later he was glowing in green pearlescent paint. No rust, all shiny and new again. During that time, we built up the motor and cleaned more parts to put back onto him.

In those 2 and a half years, we have replaced most important things, not yet the upholstery, that will be very soon though. Have finally finished the front brakes and the gearbox mounts, found a brand new passeddash, chrome bits and pieces and even chrome cupholders. He's still not finished, but hopefully this year I will get him up and running. Cantwait to start him up for the first time and just drive :)

I don't regret buying Kermit one bit. He may have cost me so far a small fortune but it's a hobby, one I want to keep for the rest of my life :)

Love the colour, but aren't you scared of damaging him parked on his side like that?

If you turn your monitor 90 degrees to the left its on its roof.
That would cause even more damage:lol:
