yep looks like an exhaust flange but there usually made from plate steel not cast

Was vw experimenting with rotaries?

G'day all. No to rotary but yes it looks like an epitrocoid curve give up on trying to find an answer. Jeff Dellow had it in his unidentified
pattern section. thinking I might know being marked vw.
