casting pattern & the sender ask if I could tell him what it's for

yep looks like an exhaust flange but there usually made from plate steel not cast

New engine in process: 94mm p&bs, 74mm C/w chomol Crank, 35.5x39 SP heads, turbo. Wierd combo, hopeful torque monsta!

G'day all. No to rotary but yes it looks like an epitrocoid curve give up on trying to find an answer. Jeff Dellow had it in his unidentified pattern section. thinking I might know being marked vw.
