Belly pans

I know VW fitted belly pans on their deluxe microbus split models, but does anyone have any information on what other models were fitted with them, or could you order them for any Type 2?

The reason I'm asking is I've bought a 70 lowlight kombi with factory belly pans. I haven't ever noticed them on bays before until then.

From what I can figure out they were put on kombis destined to become campers (Not Westfalias) for the European market. If anyone has more info I'd appreciate your knowledge.

Cheers, Dave

I think they were fitted on Micro Busses to reduce road noise in the back cabin area

I had them on a 65 Micro bus

As far as I am aware they were fitted to vehicles with a sunroof to strengthen the body including factory campers which had a hole in the roof
