Subarugears burnouts????? Powerslides etc? V
Hiya
With the constant battle over dollars spent on a VW engine weighed up against a wrx conversion, I am surprised I haven't seen a beetle doing
burnouts/ powerslides/ drifting etc with the subarugears conversions???
This is not a post so you can tell me that a rear engined beetle is not suitable for this sort of work, or that a skyline etc would be more
suited...
I am just looking a lots of beetles being able to have fun throwing the back end around with air cooled power even a 1916. But with a wrx conversion I
just can't find any clips anywhere. The only style of burnout seems to be coming a 2.5 Sti conversion and only ever in a straight line.
Todd I am not bagging your product in any way, but would have thought the HP of the conversions would mean some loose rear end fun would be easily
possible.
If you have links or a comment I would love to see
meaning VW does it without the need for conversion......

Hi guys
Matt I agree there is not the need because VW engine are more than capable. I love that vid you posted think I first saw it 10+ years ago and still
one of my favourite vids.
What I am trying to say though is where is a standard or standard ish wrx conversion doing similar wheel spins like the vid you posted Matt?
Not straight line stuff... Preferred with a Subaru Gears box. Surely some have seen a vid or done it themselves.

Thanks for posting up the Raby vids guys.
Maybe Subarugears customers are a higher class of VW owner....dunno...???!! LOL
Checkout the Subarugears youtube channel and Facebook page, I post up any vids I can get my hands on.
Probably the closest you'll get to that is the 300hp at the wheels Karmann Ghia. There's vids of his dyno run and some launches onto the freeway.
He's got an OBX torsen LSD fitted though, so it wheelspins in first, second and third but manages to gain traction in those gears as well.
No offense taken by the way, the product speaks for itself. If people cruise with it with an ej20, great. If they flog the crap out of it with an
EJ25T at 18psi then great too. Someone will make a video of one destroying itself one day with eleventy million horsepower doing a burnout. Meh.

Hi Todd
Glad you didn't take offence. And I like the dig too .
Look at it this way. If I was to do a motokahana or similar event, even hillclimb etc how does the conversion put power down around corners? Can it
break loose? (I am assuming easily)
Todd I think you have released a great VW specific product, and just want some more footage other than straight line.
Again this is in no way meant to detract from your product.

Nah no dramas. It breaks loose the same as any other transaxle breaks loose - depends on your tyres and suspension setup plus your power.
Paul on here (Pazzan) has one in his buggy fitted with an OBX LSD. He's done 1:12's at Wakefield in it and might have some video footage of his laps
he can link to.
