WTB - Country Buggy Horn Button

Dig through your pile of hens teeth and the needles in your haystack, I'm searching for a Country Buggy Horn Button.

There's plenty on the Samba but looking for one closer to home in the interest of the local economy.

Condition not important, will take anything.

PM me please.

May seem like a silly question but.....if the country buggy is an Australian only thing (no pun intended) why would there be plenty of parts for them on the samba?

because VW Oz used left over parts in the country buggy, the steering wheel is pre '55 type 2

This is what mine looks like - which I would think would be the original.

Give them a call, they make a repro wheel and horn button, I gave away a perfectly good steering wheel and horn button when I had my country buggy.

Close Mr Berry! They were still a splined column like a type 1 so not the same as pre 55 type 2 which has a single keyed, tapered column (and a different diameter wheel I think).
Country buggy steering wheels are the same as a 'standard' model beetle from late 55 to 66, but the horn buttons were interchangeable from the early style standard model wheels from 49 to 55 even though the wheels were a slightly different rim profile hence why they are easy to find elsewhere in the world ie: the samba.

I dug the wheel out and measured the hub size to get an approximate. The overall outside diameter is approx 60mm and the inner diameter (where it would step down into the hub) is approx 50mm.

From memory I might have one sitting in my "hang onto in case someone wants one or I need it some day" box. Just the one though I thiink.

So do I throw it in the middle and last man standing gets it? It would probably end up on ebay soon so happy to give first option to forum members.

How did you go pfillery?

Did anyone see this one on ebay?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/151394946646?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=...

I thought about throwing a bid on but its probably top TOP dollar for something that needs to be modified to look right :td:

Yeah that's a split kombi button. I bought a white one from OS and it arrived today.
Going to paint the wheel anyway so I'll paint this at the same time.
Still need another one though if someone does manage to dig one up.
