Fuel pump not working while cranking
Hi guys,
I've almost got my Type 3 on the road however I've got a peculiar issue related to fuel supply.
After rebuilding the carbs and replacing the fuel lines it took putting fuel in the carbs directly to fire up the car and similar has happened today
when the car ran out of fuel on the side of the road to get it's blue slip.
Currently it seems like there is a lack of fuel while trying to crank, but when I do manage to get it kicked over if I keep the revs up for a moment
the car will start. Once there is 'fuel in the system' the car stars pretty easily afterward (even after a day/cooling down).
So what seems to be the trouble is that the fuel pump doesn't operate at low revs/while cranking. But while the car running all is well. Tho my
understanding of the pump is the pushrod moving operates it and I can't understand why a speed difference would change this.
Has anyone come across this before or have any other tips?

Check the length of the rod. It may be worn and as a result your not getting the pressure you need
