Empi indicator switch

I just fitted a new Empi indicator switch to my 72 super beetle, everything works fine apart from they wont auto cancel when you turn the wheel. You can hear it click but its like the mechanism in the switch isn't strong enough to return the switch back, the arm is a bit stiff but not real bad. Anyone else had this problem with Empi indicator switches? If its a Empi switch problem, I will send it back and get my $89 back.
