Electronic payment
Just ordered some parts from UK, all the bank info I got from the supplier seemed very confusing so I went into my bank to ask what I needed t o pay
online, they informed me that it wasn't possible to pay online to overseas accounts, had to do it through the bank over the counter, with additional
charges tacked on  is this the way it is usually done?
Advice from those with experience would be appreciated. I've only ever done this through eBay and it was easy there and no added charges.
I dream of a day when a chicken can cross a road without being asked for it's motive!

I have used paypal outside of Ebay and credit card with no issues, even for the wheels i had made at image wheels a credit card transaction was no
issue.

It can be done, but depends on the bank and the system they use. The more international banks (ie HSBC) have good online payment systems that do
international transfers. Some don't and require a over the counter form + Fee.
Even if you do it online, most international transfers will end up requiring a fee, normally between 10 and 30. this is normally intermediaries fees.
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!

if you can get the banks swift numb er then transfer is easy and cheap fee free I think. Mitchell

I transferred money via bank transfer to Weddle in the US. I had Swift numbers, account numbers, everything I needed.
I had to do it in the branch, and I paid a fee of $30 for the transfer, and then I also had to pay the banks standard spot price for the dollar
exchange, which effectively works out to about 4% or 5% in the kitty for them on top (they only gave me 80c, the exchange rate that night on the news
was 85c). The both I and Weddle had to wait 3 working days before transfer was completed.
It's a rort, but you have no choice, so you just have to wear it I guess. I would factor in all these unforeseen charges into the deal and
recalculate the totals so you know what you're really up for in the end.
PS: My order was also under $1000, otherwise Customs would then add their 10% onto the total, the overall total including freight, charges, fees,
everything.
And they reckon there's no bribery or corruption in Oz hey?

Also try OzFourex. Rates are far far better than the banks and as long as you have the swift number etc (which would need for a transfer anyway) they
do the rest. You just transfer AUD locally to them and they then exchange and send on.
Used them recently for a inward transfer USD to AUD and they were 5c better than the bank, much smaller spread.
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!
