Restoration
Hi all. I finally bit the bullet and am getting my 1965 Beetle restored by Australian VW Performance Centre.
They've just completed the body work and going to repspray it next week.
What other mechanical or electric issues should I get them to address?
The engine will be resealed.
Its already converted from 6v to 12v.
I'm going to get a new Mp3 radio - any suggestions? I was hoping to get one that has mp3 usb ports.

Get them to do a full road report. You will probaly have to get some work done on the brakes, suspension, steering, engine and or gearbox. The unknown
factor could mean there is hundreds or possibly thousands of dollars of work to do.

Retrosound is good. You don't have to cut the dash and you get all the features you are likely to want. Not cheap but good. Mustangs of Melbourne
sell them in Vic and can suply or order in appropriate knobs for your year Beetle
Cheers

Yes, Mustangs Melbourne stocks them - I'll drive by and check them out.
The only problem I see is that they lack front USB ports - they are in the back which makes plugging in your phone awkward.
Its also twice the price of the modern Panasonic 50W tuner. http://www.pioneer.com.au/au/products/25/121/61/MVH-X375BT/page.html
