1956 plates

I would like to obtain a set of plates from 1956 for my type 1. I have a son currently living in Brisbane who would be able to assist in getting them to me. Also, where would I find paint chips for cars produced in Australia? My car is a green color and I would like to get some paint chips so we could do a color match off of a real color so nothing would be lost in the translation to the colors in the USA. Regards, Russ. 1956 type 1, rhd rag top with semis.

Not sure what you mean by "plates" - more detail?

Here is a list of VW colours from the time - hope it helps

What would have been issued for that year? We have certain styles that were used for several years, ie, White numbers/letters on black, white on green, yellow on blue and so forth. a pic of a licence plate would help. pics could be sent to my email which I would give in a pm. Regards, Russ

Dulux made the paint for VW back then but I don't think they do automotive anymore. Either way you'd have to track down a paint supplier that had the Dulux formula to try and match in a modern paint system.

56 woulda had sSlver on Black plates if my nans old plates she keep from her Holden are correct. That's in QLD too :)

1956 Qld number plates were white letters on a black background.
The range in 1956 was NBF•197 to NDA•669
