Thoughts on a coughing motor
Hey guys,
I'm running twin 48IDF's on a 2276, and I'm noticing there is a splutter through the revs, particularly under medium load acceleration. It makes
putting around a big of a chore, and was wondering if anyone had any ideas. If I mash the Go-Pedal from a standing start, it seems to miss the
cough.
I'm thinking it could be something to do with the Carbys, or would an exhaust leak also maybe be something to look for?

I would try a blocked idle jet first
Pull a lead one at a time at idle and see if one makes no difference

Yeah that sounds pretty much right! I'm suspecting perhaps the change to the main jet may be problematic?

Hi Ollie,
Yes, it is the entire main jet circuit that needs tuning. That includes main, air correction and emulsion tube.
Do you know what size jets and emulsion tubes you have at the moment? What size venturis and idle jets too?

Sorry for the slow replies!
As long as I've had the carbys it's been there..I don't drive it too much but it's gotten worse of late. I've also worked out if I'm at lower
revs in say fourth or third, and just sit at the trouble spot, it will kind of cough and lose some power slightly and I have to give it more gas.
Does this help?
Carby rebuild on the cards?
