[FS - VIC] Factory Sunroof Squareback - damaged
Sitting on this for a rainy day... but business needs the cash flow....
Burnt/damaged but i think well worth saving...
purchase price, transport from QLD and storage means it owes me around $3500 so thats what i'm asking or near offer...!
Inspection highly recommended....
needs full resto but was a pretty good car pre fire...
INSPECTIONS IN/NEAR SEAFORD VIC 3198
0407 013 047 - leave a message as I may not answer straight away...

I know the previous owner of this car. His wife is a VW mechanic (apprentice) so no expense was spared restoring it. I wish I'd known it was up for
sale before it got shipped off.

Wow I owned this car around 14 years ago, the body back then was very rust free, still looks solid burn doesn't look to bad.
The brakes had two stud patterns ( also Porsche 5 x 130 ) done by previous owner to me, will also have a brace around the bell housing of the gear box
and up to the floor above as I had a 2ltr engine in it.
I made the luggage bars for the rear window from a 76 Bay Microbus.
The Wagon was originally privately imported in by a Diplomat in Canberra .
When I sold it to a mate in QLD it had a Tlll taco in the dash, Tlll two pc consol and a 1600 engine.
Good luck with the sale, hope some will get it back on the road.
Now... what was I doing again

thanks Mike... i'm having serious thoughts of cancelling the sale coz i really wanna do this car...
all depends on how the trading ear starts off i guess
no console anymore sadly... and i haven't checked the hubs behind the rims so i'll do that...
would love to see pics if you have any?
was the 2ltr a type1 universal case bored out or a type4 kombi motor?

I know I have a few picks somewhere, I'll dig them out.
I had the car for about 6 years, but it came along at a busy time, two kids n built a house, once the dust settled I had a change of mind, so I fitted
a stock 1600 to it, put rego on it and sold it.
The 2ltr was a T1 with a Naismith offset ground crank n rods, with 90.5s it was around 1986 cc, sold that also
I only got to drive the car for a couple of days before it went to to QLD.
I remember the guy that Blue Slipped the car for rego saying I'll need a engineers cert for the hole in the roof, I said why its factory, he came
back with no mate I know Volkswagen's n these never came out with a sunroof. When I produced a Tlll Bently book showing how to service a
sunroof...... Guess what I got my Blue Slip.
Dave haven't you got enough cars in pieces ???
Now... what was I doing again

I know I have more, I'll find eventually, the first two are from when I bought the car, it came into work with carby problems and customer didn't
want to spend anymore money on the car.
The third pic would have been when I registered the car just before I sold it.

My brother lives in Canberra, bought the car in Canberra, had it for about 7 years, dropped off to me in Sydney for some work n prep for sale.
He then came back up to Sydney to take it to a VW show to sell the car, a guy from Canberra followed him into the show, saw the 4sale in the window n
bought it as he pulled up. So back to Canberra it went.
Then some 6 or so years after one day at work I had a call from another VW shop in Canberra knowing I was linked to the wagon was wanting to sell me
the car, as a girl was restoring the car n had run out of $ , I didn't have room for it at the time.
After that I had lost track of it, the factory seats were trimmed in a red velour, but maybe that had changed back to stock.
The Orange wagon.... If you have the room.... Keep It, cars with nice options like this are getting harder to find.
Now... what was I doing again

This was mine - not that you can see the Golde sunroof too well, but trust me it's there - LOL.

Looks like a great wagon Paul... No longer in your hands mate?
I've still got this one if anyone is keen... Still at the end of a long list of things to do in my lifetime so happy for someone else to have a crack
at it if they want ; )
If not can stay in storage for now....

No mate, I let it go ten years back. It was a superb car. First a 1776, then 2 litre. Finally a 2.1 modified water-boxer, Rancho 'box, sports seats,
914 option wheels, Golf two-speed heater... It even had hydraulic suspension at one time in its life (when the 2 litre aircooled was fitted). Working
on a '66 Fasty now so plenty to keep me happy.
