Paul are they for a 12v model,I am not 100% sure but something tells me there was 2 sizes for the holding nut 24mm and possibly 27mm with a 21mm lock nut. I may have a couple but will have to do a search.Cheers Les

Generator Spanner

John Muir's book Complete Idiots manual shows how to make a special spanner that is used to hold the generator pulley. I made one and it works a treat. Then you only need a 21mm for the nut.

Hi Paul,

Re John Muir's manual, check Chapter VIII, Page 68, last line on bottom of page, diagram on page 69, and instructions on how to on page 70.

I should've said in previous post that I made one for a Type 3 pancake engine.

Easy to make if you have the material and tools to do the job.

Jed
Mate thank you had to search big time to find the book and lo and behold on page 69 is all the info I need. Yep most people think that type 1 will work but different.

Les if you have originals that would be great if not will use the info jed has supplied and make them.

Cheers guys thanks for the replies

Hi Paul I have a 24mm with 17mm on the other end,I believe that I purchased this for the type 3's quite a few years ago( possibly from the dealership but too far back to remember) It got pushed to the back of my toolbox and was buried,I cannot remember using it and the spanner shows this.I will get a couple of pics tomorrow.
In my workshop I used a thin 24/27mm Geodore to hold and a 21mm open ender on the nut.I could also sell these if interested.
