Starter switch and more

Hi, a bit unsure of where to start on this.
72 double cab with later type 4 engine / alternator.

Started fine and turned round on drive. 10 minutes later when to start up again- dead. no dash lights. I didnt touch or disturb anything in between aside from getting in and out of the car.
Wiggled the key in ignition a bit, got the battery & oil lights on, on turn of switch- nothing- no click.
With key off/out, no side lights or other ancilliaries and oddly, tried the hazard lights & nothing aside from whiny relay noise.
Sounds like a short somewhere, or the starter switch died and shorting out somehow? im a bit clueless on the electrics from - thats probably obvious........

Do you happen to have a multimeter or can you rig up a test light? Kinda hard to fault find without either of these.
