Distributor service
Hi all, is there anyone in Australia that provides a good Bosch distributor repair/rebuild service.
I know of Glenn Ring in the US, but that's a long way to send a dizzy.
Is there anyone closer?

Thanks mate, I'll give them a call.
Has anyone done it themselves? I reckon I can tackle the disassembly and clean etc, it's the testing after putting it all back together that I'm
mostly concerned with.

They're pretty simple. Just take photos of every thing before you take it apart especially if an SVDA variety of dizzy as you'll need to photograph
the mech advance assembly under the vac advance plate.
Once apart is first checking the dizzy shaft isn't badly worn. If it is it can be surface ground and nitrided to make it usable again. Then you can
find online bronze split bushes to replace those in the dizzy body. Depending on the model of dizzy some types of wear in the advance plate can be
weld filled and ground back. Then if the vac can is dead there are 2 types available to buy and depending on your dizzy the mount holes may need
modifying.
I've done a few now including the old VJU4, I think, from the Oval and one of the big bodied vac only. Another i tried had a siezed shaft and the
body crack when trying to press it out. Win some and ya lose some
So yea, if you're mechanically minded then should be pretty easy for ya

Hey Benito, It's a VJR4BR25 . Predecessor to the 010, same advance curve though, which is why I'll try to bring it back to life. I have the BR8
too, but it's not as suitable to my build.
Thanks for the tips psimitar. ..I'm working on being mechanically minded. ; )

Nice dizzy, you should have no problems in rebuilding it, if you get stuck follow Glen's 010 build.
