I have had a couple of Volksie heroes to look up to, or when I got to be a big person feel confused when they seemed smaller than they should be
having met them coz I'm a smidge over 6ft.
Like my wayward street-racing uncle, may he RIP (although I seriously doubt that.........), who borrowed his girlfriends (who very likely is also very
much un-RIP) hotrod street-racing Beetle and taught me how to snap-change with no clutch, and how to left-foot brake when the tail j-u-s-t starts to
swing out. A story for another time maybe.
Chief among them all though, is Bob Hoover.
A giant among Volksie heroes for half the world I think. Not because he was particularly brilliant, just coz he has a knack of explaining stuff that
amuses as well as educates. He also very succinctly reminds everyone that a VW is just a cheap economy car after all, and OEM is vastly better than
damn near everything, but still cheap and economy (just that it fits). So while G@@gling stuff when a little bit bored and I came across a link to one
of his pieces I went straight to it...........
