Kombis.
Audis, Passats & Golfs were assembled here from imported and locally made parts.

I read it on samba, so it must be correct.

Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!

I think someone might have asked this question on another post, but here it is again.

Full year-by-year Australian production records no longer exist. There are some annual figures, derived from various VW Australasia annual reports, but these are only overall totals. What figures there are are quoted in Rod and Lloyd Davies' book 'VW Australia the Forgotten Story.' But they only go up to the late '60s, and VWs were assembled here until 1976.

Annual SALES figures, on the other hand, are readily available from publications by groups such as the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries. These are available for persual in the large State Libraries. I've done the reasearch, and have published all the Australian annual sales figures on the VW History pages. Click on the 5-year block you are interested in, and the Australian sales figures are at the end of each year.

http://www.clubvw.org.au/history

Be aware that there are limitations to these figures. The FCAI did not recognise a model called the 'Beetle' or the 'Type 3'. They quoted figures for 'VW 1200', 'VW 1300' and so on. That's fine, but 'VW 1500' and 'VW 1600' can refer to either Beetles or Type 3, depending on the year - there is no way to split them. The FCAI did not recognise a model called the Country Buggy - oit would have been included in 'VW 1300.' There is no data on how many Kombis were vans, Microbuses, pickups etc. Even today, VFACTS does not split Golfs into diesels, GTIs, etc. It's just 'Golf'. Just the way things are.
