Carpet holders (below the door) Rocker Panel.
Hi has anyone got a drawing for the rocker panel carpet holders (on top of heater channels) so I can get some made.

For what year? Early bugs use an L shaped piece with the clamping edge having the exposed edge doubled back on itself facing downwards.
later ones are a strip with the open clamping edge facing out towards the door. Must use a strip of fibreboard or something stitched to the carpet to
hold the carpet in place. The open clamping edge is also doubled back on itself so there isn't a sharp edge facing you.
for the early one the open edge sits about 3-4mm above the heater channel/sill.

It's a 67 Deluxe with narrow Nose & vertical spare model. Sorry no new pics all prior to repairs, my internet is slowwww due to 4G
upgrades.

Yea, so this is a cross section of the carpet clamp. The strips length is about 15mm short on each end of the door aperture. Top section is only about
15mm deep and the upright bit that spot welds to the heater channel/Sill can be measured from your channel and add a few mm to allow for the gap
needed where the carpet is clamped

Have a chat to some upholsterers about various options.
I can understand wanting to keep it stock for a "proper" resto, but most cars have a strip of something bolted to the sill to hold the carpet edge
down (just one idea).
I'm not suggesting that is the best way, or the correct way, but personally I've often found it the easiest.
Upholsterers do this daily for a living, and would know all the tricks both ways.
Free plug for one I have spoken to a couple of times, Brad knows way more than I ever will about interiors........

Um, the diagram of the clamps profile plus you doing a few measurements is all you need for a sheet metal guy to know em um within 20mins
Modnrod is right. You could use some rivnuts in the channel top so that you can bolt some nice polished stainless strips on top of the carpet.

I guess that I'll make a diagram when I go measure a car but the profile is what I didn't have worked out as you destroy the piece when you cut it
off.
I am going to use a two pack glue to re-attach the strips. 3M's Scotchweld does the job very well with metal to metal. I have used it to glue in a
ute floor previously. It isn't cheap but it is very good.
Often thought about gluing a car up over welding. Trouble is most people dont have confidence in space age glues  .
I'll try & post a diagram tonight (now I know the correct profile) *stay posted.

Drawing
Well here it is folks,
Sadly 0.5mm black sheet is hard to come by in Australia (Zincalume is sold in 0.55mm) so the next size is 0.81m. I will make mine from the thicker
guage as I have a large sheet of it.

Zinc seal is available in 0.55, and is easy to weld [if you decide not to glue it].
The 3mm bend may be tricky, but not impossible. If you feel like a trip up the hill to the Highlands, I could 'have a go' at it. I can get hold of
0.55 Z/S.
