Is Dub spotting really a mental health issue?

Driving through Adelaide this arvo to pick the Missus up from the airport. Spotted a Square back in a yard. Next saw a Lowlight Kombi in a shop carpark, (looked like a sister to ours, same central pop top above the sliding door.). Then in a yard I spotted a semi Baja'd Beetle and then a few minutes later a sweet red KG.
Hell the dog jumped and stared when I yelled "full set!"
Is this normal behaviour, or is living in a country town with few Dubs a possible diagnosis. I'd ask the Missus be she already thinks I need a padded room.
Is 7 air cooled Dubs in 15 minutes anywhere near a record for Dub spotting?

Today, in the Midwest (population 5000 for 40000 sq km, and I rekn they're joking for sure..........) I saw a bright red fat-bummed whale-tailed Beetle on shiny gold 8-spoke alloys.
It was on a trailer, and it looked so "show ready" I almost pulled past him and yelled to ask to have a good look it was that nice.

What are the odds, VW Bush Week!

It's a disease

I'm pretty sure they call it the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon. http://www.psmag.com/books-and-culture/theres-a-name-for-that-the-baader-meinhof-phenomenon-59670

Its Baader-Meinhof if its new to you. But if youve been a Dub fan for years, it's definately a disease or obsession. As a Holden junkie I still have the same problem spotting pre Commodore classics.

I'm pretty sure I'm right. That article I referenced before was poorly written click bait that got it's info from an equally bad Wiki page. Baader Meinhoff is otherwise known as the Frequency Illusion. It's classified as a cognitive bias. Here's another questionable link. http://wordspy.com/index.php?word=frequency-illusion
Btw, keep dub spotting. There are worse things to be doing like spotting Hondas or Hyundais.

You never ever grow out of this condition, I've got it (along with a sheet load of other old[er] codgers) with sweet young things, though I've noticed that it seems to be morphing onwards to old(er) sweet things.
Oh, and dubs of all varieties too.

My two year old yells TOMBI way before we ever see a kombi rolling down the street, she then fist pumps and claps her hands. My four year old boy is just as crazy. They make it very infectious.

sounds normal, the people that don't get excited over air cooled dubs are the ones with mental health issues..

I do tend to notice the cars I like and can spot them easy, but I dont go nuts trying to spot them.

I mostly spot type 3s, pre 95 Porsche and pre 95 Commys except for VLs , coz they're shit lol.
