WTB: 36hp motor!
Hey guys, I'm looking for a complete 36hp motor to be a base for a vintage speed project I'm hoping to build, that will eventually go in my 56.
A complete motor that runs would be ideal, but I'd consider non siezed motors that are more or less complete that may need some minor work...
Date around 56 would be awesome, but not necessary, as long as it is a sound motor that isn't going to require tons of work to make it runnable.
I'm also interested in some german Solex 28pci's for the same vintage speed build aswell, if anyone has any...
Cheers!

If you are on DSK there is someone that has found a shed full of motors and is taking EOI's to see if he buys them.
They mostly look complete. Might be worth a chat for you.

No, I'm actually not on DSK, but I'll have a look! I'm not sure how you join or look at posts on DSK though, as I have tried in the past

You probably cannot see this link if your not a meber as I think for sale posts are blocked until you post 5 times.
I will PM a copy of this link too so he might contact you if he buys them.

What are your plans for your 36hp project?
What are you going to run?
There seems to be a lot of options out there!

I've found it hard to decide! I like the Okrasa kit, but hate the cheap looking manifolds and linkage lol! Plus the manifolds wont clear the rain
gutters on a vert lid either
I think I'd like to go something with dual 28pci's for that really old school look with some Porsche mushroom filters I have. I like the Deitz,
Express or Riechert kits. I thought I'd do the crank, cam and port job with stock heads, as I was looking at dyno numbers, and the okrasa heads only
seem to add 5hp over the stock heads at best, putting a 16 blade fan can add nearly that much hp for a lot less $$!

The latest Hot VW magazine from USA has an Okrasa engine build part 1 that might interest you. Most of the parts are sold by WW as 'faithful'
reproductions of the originals but they add a 67.5 CW crank with I beam rods and porsche 80 point something barrels to make the engine 1397cc.
Just in case that floats ya boat

Ahh, I go grazy for anything vintage speed man! love the
Okrasa heads, just hate the cheapish but faithful repro manifolds, I wish they had pretty cast alloy manifolds likr the express kits did! I like the
sound of 80mm pots though, I'll have to look that up! Thanks man!

I'm in the same boat atm. I considered WW okrasa heads with Webers. Still trying to decide. I heard figures of about 46-48hp with WW okrasa kit. Does
this sound right to you?

Yeah, I have a friend on theSamba that just built an Okrasa with P40-11's on Okrasa heads using some trick cast alloy manifolds, not sure of the
output exactly, but it looks to run very strong I'd also consider doing
the Webber route, but invested too much in airfilters for a single throat carb haha! I think around 40-45hp on the bone stock Okrasa kit is about
average, but with a crank, cam and port job with some bigger valves and a big set of webers, I think 50-60hp may very well be doable

Oh, and there's even a mild cam grind for the 30HP motor now so with Okrasa ported heads and some form of twin carb and vintage speed exhaust you'll
have a fine strong motor.
Oh and there's a 30HP case selling on fleabay at the moment
madness is in the eye of the beholder
