(WTB) 12v choke
I am after a 12v choke to fit a type 3 sidedraught single carby. phn30
I believe all single carb type 3's were 6v ?????
The car is now 12v so thus need a 12v choke
I also believe all vw chokes are the same physical size ????
from what i can find the chokes are wound left or right depending on the carby type.
below is a pic of the way the choke needs to be wound for my carby.

You could put in a resistor to drop feed down to 6v.
Customer service is not dead in Australia.

I have a fair few chokes, so i will play around and check if a 12v one fits my side draught carbs

thought about he resistor idea but a 12v choke would be better. if they are the same size etc.
resistor will be my last resort

Ok. Here is a few of what i have. I only had time to check 3 of them so here we go.
The one of the bottom is a 12v one from a 1800 Type 4 carby, but it winds in the opposite direction.
The middle one is a 6v Type 3 one, which is the same as your picture above.
The one of the top is also from a Type 3 one, unsure of year - it was mixed in my Type 3 carby box. The insides look different, and the outside
doesn't have printed what voltage it is.
Let me know your thoughts.
