Might Car Mods- '74 beetle

I started watching the youtube channel a couple of weeks ago were they do DIY JDM mods to cars with a bit of a sense of humour and borrow cars to get to the centre of Australia.

Now they just uploaded a video on a Beetle.

I am not a big fan of other engine transplants, but I do love a job well done. This is great, and the enthusiasm and 'nuttiness' of the presenters is infectious & fun. Hope it is going to Warwick ........ would love to check it out.

Nice work by all involved.

I am rather hoping that at some stage they do some suspension and brake upgrades to it (although I kind of suspect they may have done some and just not shown it).

Also a shame they started with a 2.5, because I'm pretty certain that with the turbo it makes it impossible to engineer. If they'd used the 2 or 2.2 they could still get it engineered.

Only 6" wheels on the back was also a bit narrow, given they went to the trouble of widening. I have 7" Boxsters under standard guards, so they could have gained some more traction. I wonder if the Subway budget couldn't cover a SubaruGears 5 speed? Wouldn't that have allowed them to move the engine further forward (although they have put a radiator back there)?

Saw this one a couple of weeks ago. Well worth a watch. Would have loved to see them use an aircooled as well Jeff. Nice to see Aussie lads rather than all the US and UK shows that are about.
The follow up vid is worth watching. They answer questions which is a cool thing.
