Type 1 - Beading

Hey everyone,

I am looking to buying a VW Type 1 (bug). I might want to re-spray it a different color and just have few questions on the subject.

1. Where should I see the black "beading" or separation between parts of the bug. I know the fenders have this (picture below), but are there any other parts that need this?

2. Does anyone have any reccomendations for places that re-spray a bug near Brisbane, and the possible costs.

I'll be back...

Wolfsburgh Auto have the quality beading from the original design,it fits and you just buy the length that you require. I have some of the aftermarket beading and the quality is nowhere near that from Wolfsburgh.

You can buy a fender bead kit that does the four fenders/ guards. I got mine from a local supplier that sells Wolfsburg West brand. There are cheaper ones out there, but they are very hard and not as flexible. You will have to cut your own grooves for the bolts and corners. It is a tricky process if you don't know what to do, but with some patience you can get excellent results like I do.
