LONG STUD VALVE CLEARANCE
An early 1200cc engine with one head with long studs and the other modified to short studs. Would It be correct to adjust the short stud one 0.006
and the long stud one to 0.008/0.012 ?

Why not modify the long stud side to short stud. It is done with the engine still in car. Maybe Vintage has the modified studs for you. Early days
the hole where the long stud went was tapped 9/16" UNF for the then available short studs but these days M14 x 1.25 would be the go if getting them
made. Can you get a couple made if unavailable?

thanks 1500s. Will look at modifying it. In the short term will adjust the long stud head to the greater values.

Brian
Do the MOD then you wont have any problems down the track
Pretty sure he has the MOD rocket studs or will have a good head already done
If your resetting the tappets all the time then it will be on the way out and need replacing
