[FS - NSW] Considering a trade on my 61 DC
I have owned this amazing DC since 2011, and now have x5 kids, so it's either leave my wife at home, or put a child up for adoption or consider
trading for a 9 seater window van.
I am looking to see if there is any interest to trade a similar pre 1962 window van, preference for ribbed bumpers and as many windows as possible,
sorry Panels and SC's are of no use as I am looking for room for the family.
This bus is the most reliable and comfortable vw i have every owned. Unfortunately due to the lack of seats, i am barely driving it these days, maybe
once a month.
The DC is now located in the Adelaide Hills, but will be at VALLA this weekend.
This well documented 1961 Turkis DC, across a number for forums and shows, i can share links via PM.
It is the 38th off the Clayton Production line, I have had it on both NSW and SA rego.
It's one of the best earliest DC's around, still in authentic condition in the original Turkis. The interior feels like new and the 68/69 front beam
is one of the best splitscreen drives you will ever have.
Number plate RAT 610 (SA rego)
But the car is more than just a RAT, some improvements includes:
- recon gear box
- rear adjustable spring plate, for the straight axle conversion
- 68/69 adjustable narrowed front beam
- I've spent some time getting the ride height and suspension practical, comfortable as well as low
- new brakes (new drums), yes it's on drums but it is more than sufficient
- strong 1641 with twin kadrons and sidewinder exhaust
- Safari windows
- Rubber mat to protect the tray
Some of the work done to date includes:
The bus was totally stripped back to the original Turkis green and then blended where needed, along with blasting and painting the back tray. The ute
was extremely solid and required very little welding as this was done in its previous life, whist not perfect it is very solid. The gates were rusty
as they are generally and were blasted and welded solid. It was mainly the bottom sections around the hinges.
Painted splitty wheels fitted with commercial hubcaps
It has a strong 1641 with twin kadrons, electronic dizzy and alternator and a sidewinder exhaust.
The following has also been done / replaced :
- all new rubbers
- dynamat on all panels inside
- new seat belts front and rear
- new busnbug trim including head cards (thanks Brad)
- front and back seat retrimmed
- new steering wheel
- front dash painted to freshen up inside
- quickshift installed
- all new linkages / cables and bushes (clutch, brake & accelerator)
- new brake lines and flex lines
- new wiring where needed and brake and indicator lenses
- Steering box protector
- Westy repro rack (weathered)
This DC, is suitable as a daily driver, I am looking for a trade for a similar value pre 1962 window van, plus cash my way if appropriate.
I am not looking for any stupid feedback, lowball offers and I do not NEED to sell for financial reasons.
If your serious about this car, please PM me or better call my mobile 0405 401 636 as I travel a lot for work.
Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul, does the bus you're chasing need to be in similar condition to the ute? |

Hi there
Is you DC still for sale?
Will you consider an outright purchase rather than a trade?
is so can you please let me know a ball park figure.
Would be good if you could provide mobile phone details as well.
