WTB NSW Whats a 6volt geny worth?


Hi all looking for a 6 volt generator,reco, what sort of dollars do they for?
Im in the southern highlands of Sydney but can pick up from Sydney ?

Hi Brendon,
I would think that there would be a few 6 volt generators about as most later 6 volt beetles have been changed over to 12 volts...
and there would be a lot of 12volt generators about too, as most have been changed to alternators now.
Main problem with generators is the brushed wearing out... so there should be some out there..

Only problem is the weight of the little devils....:lol:

Hopefully someone will have one... and haven't thrown it out..

Yeah Lee , probably the way to go but for this project is only a daily driver around the local area so I just want it stock for its age and purity, I'm sure someone does have on on the floor in the corner somewhere? Thanks all . I hope to find one soon ?

Well I hope there is some VW nut out there that WILL PART with their old 6 volt generator.... and maybe a 6 volt starter motor too...

I am still surprising Myself when I go thru drawers and cupboards with all the spares I have collected over 19 years... :lol::lol: but You can't have too many spares...

got a starter motor but need exhaust bits? Is this suitable for the 36hp?

NO its a 1200 40HP fresh air type 2 wide for a 36 engine

do u want a original type 36 genny as they are different so is the fan on the back of the genny

Hi Dave
its off a 1300 ,the field & dynamo wires come out separately, you do know that an experienced talented auto electrician can even put all the guts of the genny into an early casing with the narrow slots .
