Help! T25/T3 Starter motor

Hi Dubbers!

We're on a roadtrip from Melbourne in our aircooled '82 Transporter and our starter motor has gone & stranded us in Canberra. Would anyone know where I could find a new or rebuilt starter motor? Or is it easier to get ours rebuilt?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

In a pinch you can use the T2 2 litre starter motor, the solenoid terminal is shorter on the T2 unit but it will work.

AS Grumble says , ran one in mine for a while , if I remember correctly the solenoid is at a different angle but still works fine.

Sorry for the late reply, but cheers for the advice guys.
Unfortunately i was at the mercy of a clueless (as clueless as me anyway!) NRMA service centre mechanic.. Had to have it rebuilt.

Now the only thing we haven't replaced rebuit or upgraded is the alternator. Thinking of chucking a brand new one in the cupboard with the rest of my spares!

Rebuilt is better than new.

I read it on samba, so it must be correct.

Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!
