Thank you VW Heritage

Hows this for Service.

I ordered a heap of parts for my Kombi front suspension - ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearing kits etc at 12 midday on Friday on the VW Heritage website and it arrives on my doorstep at 9 am Monday morning with DHL from the UK - unbelievable.

Broke my record of parts from the US in 5 days.

All German quality parts and $125 less than I could get it for locally from my closest VW parts reseller. All with Free postage (as I spent just over $250) - didn't even have to leave home and drive across a toll bridge and waste fuel.

Lesson to be learned here Australia Post and local parts resellers.

Received all the correct parts I ordered. No reason they shouldn't fit - all standard German parts with VW part No's.

Hey we all like a good deal and the shipping is ultra fast. But remember ever time you buy from OS your putting another nail in the coffin of local business.
When was the last time you saw an independent hardware store or bottleshop ? Thats why i refuse to spend my money at Coles. woolworths, Bunnings, BWS, liquor land or Dan Murphys. Last time I needed some brake fluid and a headlight globe I went to a Shell/coles and came away empty handed. All they had was junk food and groceries.

When was the last time one of those local businesses MANUFACTURED that part? When was the last time one of those businesses RE-MACHINED and improved-to-fit that part? When was the last time, when encountering an unexpected warranty problem, the 2 parts crossed in the mail because the replacement part (sent for free) left the business before the original part had arrived back there? (That was a US company btw, not local).

What's the difference between buying a Chinese-produced part from the UK, the US, or (for me) Sydney?
Well, apart from nationalistic fervour of course.

I'd actually like to buy that China-made part direct from the manufacturer online if possible.

I support businesses, both local, national AND overseas, who give customer service, and being in Parts for a long time I know it when I see it.

Vw Heritage is on my favourites list.........

Touche.

I'm all for supporting local business and will always get a local price first and go with it if it's reasonable, but have gotten very tired of being bent over and shafted for many years.

Excellent! That really is cool, restores my faith a bit.

Who are they and what bits do they make?
I'll keep it in mind next time I need them.

Sounds like a good Topic to start - What unique parts are made in Australia so that we can support local business.
