Throttle Cable with 40DCN

Maybe I am nuts but I am wanting to set up a 40DCN on my 1776. Problem is, that the accelerator cable exits the fan shroud behind the vertical runner of the inlet manifold. The only options I can come up with are (a) to mount some small cable pulleys between the manifold and the fan housing to redirect the cable either to the left of the manifold or to the right so that the cable passes through the middle of the manifold verticals or (b) cut and shut the manifold to move it to the left so the cable passes straight through the gap between the verticals. This option has the disadvantage of making the inlet manifold even more offset so the runners are even more unequal.
Any suggestions (no matter how out there) will be appreciated.
Cheers..........Wayne

Drill the fanhousing an inch to the left for the repositioned throttle tube?

I wouldn't worry too much about the unequal length thing, perhaps reconsider that option.

Cable pulley mounted right on fanhousing outlet to redirect the cable up/left/right/somewhere before connecting with a linkage?

As above, but directed upwards to a linkage that operates OVER the top of the fanhousing.

DCNs work better than they should really, might be worth a go for something different.

Thanks for the suggestions. Drilling the fan housing was my first thought but unfortunately the cooler in the doghouse is in the way. Not really much room to move it the other way either because of the fan. Cut and shut will give the smoothest path for the cable (exactly the same as stock) so may be the best way.

you can get nice small pulliies from a ship chandler then just run a longer cable to go around the pulley

Thanks Steve. I am wondering though whether the cable will run smooth.Guess it would be worth a try as it would be easier than cutting and re welding the manifold as there is a heat riser welded to the manifold that will also need to be cut off and re welded in it's new position.
I will go into Whitworths and check out their pulleys. I have also found that there is an aftermarket twin pulley set up to route the accelerator cable away from the gearbox on a split window bus that could likely be adapted to my Beetle
Cheers

Thanks barls! Might be what I need and want but not what I am willing to pay for! Looks the biz for twin carbs but reckon I would have a heap of parts left over with a single weber.
It has got me thinking though.
Cheers.......Wayne
