Looking for more HP on a stock motor.

Hi All,
I have recently purchased a Purvis Eureka, with a stock 1500cc motor in it, and I am looking to get a little more power from it.
I am looking at twin carbies, what would you suggest and where can I get them,
I am also looking for any other modifications that would help with power so suggestion are always welcome.
Thanks
Michael

How about you wait till you're old enough to drive. Get used to the power you have and acquire the driving skills you need to drive safely on the road in a vehicle that is very low and has limited side and rear visibility. Then think about improving braking and handling before thinking about more power.

Hi,
In response to this, I can't say much other than the motor needs a bit of work and whilst I have parts off it, I think it would be better to put money into it now and build it to how I want it to be done.
Also, I fully understand that the car is very low and the restricted visibility as I have driven one before out on my uncles farm, I can drive and have been doing so since I was about 8 or 9. I have family who own Purvis Eureka's and I am quite capable behind the wheel of them. My cousin has a twin turbo Subaru powered car and I am definitely not going that extreme, I just want a bit more torque and power to get up and go in city traffic.
Thanks

Hi,
It already has twin port heads, so the other stuff will be taken into account.
Thanks

what bushed has listed is the bolt ons, if you were to split the case id look at 1776 barrels and pistons with a mild cam. some ported heads and a decent exhaust and carby set.

Hi,
I will look at and talk with a friend who rebuilds engines and see what he has to say about splitting the case and upgrading etc.
Thanks

BtRBB, one of the the best places to start reading is "How to Hot-Rod VW Engines" by Bill Fischer, eg. chapter 2: "Bolt on horsepower", and "Ignition systems". It's somewhat out of date, but aren't we all? (except you of course)...

I will read into that, thanks.
I have been told I am 14 going on 44, but I mean I read workshop manuals and remember 99% of it. I have always enjoyed cars and since I was about 5 always wanted to be a mechanic and more specifically open my own Air-Cooled only workshop for old v-dubs and early porsches'.
Thanks
