The Frid

Well Hello everyone. I haven't been here in a very long time but still, good to see Veedubbers is going strong. I thought, seeing my latest discovery isn't a bus Id better post it on the general VW forum I am a member on.

I've been in Japan for the year and looking in everyone's back yard every opportunity from the daily commute, i managed to spot what i first thought was a bus. At least from the back it appeared so. Paid better attention next time I whizzed past and though I'd never seen one before, recognised it as a type 147 or Fridolin (colloq.) It had vines growing through it and it has lots of rust streaks. Thought Id drop in on the property and see if I could have a gander. The owner said the vehicle was not his but I was welcome to have a good look and take some photos. Well, its pretty rotten in some places but nowhere near gone like the shop owner thinks (he's no welder). So I asked whether the owner would pass it on? Its taken about three months to get to this point but the owner said he's never likely to get around to fixing it up. It has mild mods but all complete. the owner took out the glass and the steering wheel and bumpers so they'd be looked after but it meant the rain has well and truly had its way.

Real Fuch wheels, gene burg shifter, stroked, bored, twin carbs, air conditioner () Driver recaro.

Its the original block and I think its a '71.
There are alot of parts in the car and a really neat pair of rubber thongs.
Owner has all the glass, bumpers and the steering wheel which are all unobtanium.

Its a mess but... not many of these left in the world.
Now to work out how to bring it home with me.
Cheers
Dale

Hi, a few more details.. Recaro drivers seat, genuine fuchs. Original 40hp block but capacity is 1800cc with twin carbs, heads cam barrels crank and rods. (full details on the way). Nakata diesel heater and air conditioning fitted (under dash unit). Owner says it goes like stink.

I am able to buy this thing and as much as I want it finances are tight with shipping and relocating family back home and such. If anyone is aching for it get in touch and we'll work out a deal. I have a Nov 25th deadline for shipping costs and paying the owner so if you're into it don't dally contacting me.
