30 PICT2 throttle shaft problems

g'day, people..
I started up my beetle today and ran it for a while... after I shut it off, I noticed fuel leaking from the RHS of the throttle shaft on the (Solex 30 PICT2) carby... not good!
the motor is a basic 1600 SP and has given me no trouble for the past 30 years.
I'm not interested in buying a new Chinese carb, so... if anybody out there has a spare one that is fully functioning, I'd be interested! Alternatively, if anyone has had any success with replacing the shaft, I'd appreciate any helpful advice...
thanks..

Mate the 1600 twin port normally runs 34 Pict, the 30 pict is a 1300 - 1500 carb. Asa it has been working well for 30 years I would spend the money on it and have a competent VW mechanic overhaul your carburettor & adjust it rather than buy an unknown quantity that will cost you money and possibly be worse than what you have.

thanks... yeah, I'm gonna talk with Boris at VVS about the possibility of getting the shaft re-bushed... PS interesting about the 30 being for smaller motors... this has been working well on the 1600... but it is a single port...
I appreciate your opinion... it's helpful...

I also run a 30 Pict single port 1600 jetted to suit, I think you will find that even though the shaft bushes are worn that is not the problem the fuel will be leaking from the needle and seat flooding the engine. When Boris does the bushes he will also check & rekit the carburettor to suit your motor..

Carbi Re-bush

I had the throttle bodies on my Type 3 Carbies re-bushed about 8 years ago, better than new. Always had idle issues and balancing problems, been perfect ever since. Really it is the main area of wear on a carbi. From memory cost me about $150 for the 2 carbs, but I had done all the disassembly myself.
