Badges Do you want some?

Hey guys,
Im going to be setting myself up a small metal foundry for melting aluminium and casting things like badges

Who would be interested in some custom VW badges? these would be casted aluminium which will be finished by hand with a dremel/sandpaper/file ETC

if i was given a badge to take a mould of or if you made a mould of a badge and sent it to me i could reproduce it but id need volunteers to make moulds of thier badges ..... but if you had one drawn theres a chance i could do that aswell;)

im not set up now im just guaging interest

Reply here with what type of badge that youd like, and ill see what i can do

Oh and for rare badges like Flying VW i would only do limited runs due to the fact these are a rare item and we dotn want to see them everywhere ;)
Cheers
adz

I forgot to mention that these will be at a minimum price and those who donate thier badges or make moulds for me will recieve a free badge of thier choice (maybe more :) )

a custom badge from a beetle or t3 i may be interested in, also possibly a scratch designed badge, depending on price for my custom bus.

Perhaps I could chase up some black and white plastic stickers to go over the D plates. I'm a design student so i'm sure I'll know someone who knows something... Unless the plates are enamel painted with the letters embossed like rego plates...

anyone care to enlighten me as i haven't seen a D plate up close....

Normal later-model kombi badges are really hard to find - I know because I recently had to find one.

You'll be able to sell those no trouble (and I'd be iterested in a metal one - my current one is crappy old plastic).

well if you have the object you can plaster mould it and send it here or clay mould or even fibreglass, if its a drawing itll be a bit extra $$ coz ill have to make up a clay or wooden template so i can sand cast it,

OvalTOFU, that would be great if u could get the stickers, the D plate would be a SOLID peice of aluminium not embossed like the others and i can probly tap a thread into the back for a small bolt for mounting, if you gave me an idea of the brecket i can peoble cast it aswell for an extra cost, keep giving me ideas .... ill keep looking into them

Oh and i wont be setup for a week or 3 coz i have exams on the next 2 weeks and coz ill be doing this in my school holidays (hehe all my exams will b over:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D)

but for a D plate ill need a plaster, glass or clay mould, or the actual plate to cast it off:)
any other questions, suggestions or requests?

cheers

Unfortunately I won't be able to get my badge off without the old crumbly plastic breaking into many pieces, so I can't make a mould for you.

A mate of mice got some etching into magnesium done at a place in Bayswater or Ringwood (melbourne)...

It cost about $150 for two 200X300X5mm(ish) plates to be etched about 2 mm deep....

But i think it would be better if you could get the plates stamped out or somthing like number plates...

I suppose stickers would look just like that-stickers... so embosing would be much better...
