Help!!! Door trim dilemma...

Got the front door trims back for our 76 Kombi and a fine job was done with new backing boards and new vinyl :) Sounds good except for one problem....they forgot to allow hole/s for the vents on the doors!!!

To cut a long story short it would be a pain to get the trims back to them as it needs to go through three sets of hands to get there.

Can anyone post pictures of the inside of the door trims to show where the vents should be and even more helpful would be if someone can post the appropriate dimensions so that I can make the correct cuts to accommodate the vents PLEASE!!!!?

Many thanks :)

Yeah, I can do it on the weekend for you. I just happen to have one door trim off the car at the moment.

I'm also chasing those armrests for you; I've found some, but I'm still waiting for the guy to decide whether to part out the bus that they're on. :thumb

Don't suppose not having the vents at all is a good idea either?

Oops. I'm really sorry mate, but my boss wanted to borrow the digital camera for his son's 21st birthday this weekend, so I'm unable to take the pics for you until next week. In the meantime I'll see if I can find you something to give you some idea.

The doors have air inlets in the leading edge (check with the doors wide open) whcih let air and moisture in. It's a good idea to have the vents in to get extra cooling in summer and to allow the door to dry out on the inside.

Ok, I found this one, but I'll get you one of the bottom rear corner only with the plastic vent removed and a tape measure for scale when I have the camera again. :)

No problem about the delay I will finish off the speaker install and re-do the vent part next weekend then :)

Hey Kruizin,

I worked off the latest picture you put up and thought about it a while and used the scale measurements off the photo plus a cardboard template I made and was able to install the air vent fittings ok and in the right spots!!!

Many many thanks :)

P.S. pics to come in General Chit Chat
