Almost everything you need to know about putting a V6 in a Baja!

Sorry about the long title :D

I figure everyone has already seen the story of putting a V6 into my Baja, but if you haven't then you can check it out here;
http://www.offroadvw.net/bajawes/linktoV6.htm

It contains;
* info about the V6 I used,
* info about an 800HP twin turbo version,
* a comparison against a 1915, KLZE V6, and j-spec WRX motor (weights, power, torque, etc). I hope to add more engines in the future
* diagrams of the size difference between the VW and V6 motors

And of course a detailed diary of my entire conversion process.

Also a link to a GM 3.1lt V6 baja, and a Honda V6 manx buggy.

The way you and Wes swap friendly banter I would have thought you'd opt for somthing better than the motor Wes has got!

Like a turbo KLZE.

It's funny that people think me and Brad hate each other or something, even though we run a car club, and he helped put my motor in my car :kiss

I gave Brad the keys and he took the V6 baja for a spin. He seemed happy with the V6, so why not go with it. It's a fantastic engine.

The more cars running the same motor the better. It makes things cheaper, and makes sorting problems easier.

Brad only gives my car crap because he loves it and is jealous of it. It's like when a little boy is rude to the little girl because he has a crush on them :D

I know you 2 luv birds don't "hate" each other. I did say "friendly banter".

Looks like the KLZE might the mod-motor of choice for those that throw the air-cooled dub motor away.

I suppose the installation into the buggy will be a bit easier?

mmm

Now lets set the record straight ....:bounce

Wes is a big girl and he drives a street Baja. :P:o:P

I am using the KLZE so when my new buggy kicks his ass as badly as my old buggy does he can't complain it was cause my engine is bigger.. :D:D

That and the fact the hard work is already done and now I can just copy all his good ideas ... :vader:cool:

And yes Wes I am jealous.. I wish the Corolla looked as cool as your Baja, but at least it has A/C :(

Bought the half cut from an Importer on the South Side, Asian Auto Imports.

As for Machining BDS did the flywheel and Clegg Engineering did teh cut out of the adapter from the alloy we gave em.

The rest was does by us and many in teh know wouldn't call it "machining " as such. More making it fit :D:D

Rhys - DON'T copy Wes's setup. His setup evolved from his old setup which he was already comitted to. There is better setups if you are starting from scratch.

My surge tank set-up is the same as most track cars and highly modified imports run, so there is nothing wrong with it.

Rhys, a few people have recommended you use a FI kombi fuel tank and then you won't have many problems. I can't remember what thread it was in. I don't know much about kombi's, so your best getting advice off a kombi owner.
