Semaphores?
Is it worth replacing the semaphores on a 59 bug cause when we start rebuilding were wondering if we should keep them as just a novelty, do you think
its more trouble than its worth?

Man you got it all wrong. WRONG WRONG WRONG
One of the best features of the early beetles are the revered semaphores. My suggestion is that before you start restoring your early beetle which
possesses semaphores you should be made aware of the unwritten rules that accompany such a journey.
Semaphores are NO NOVELTY !!!!!!!!!!, they must be in place and operational, and please do not replace them with the hideous Hella truck clearance
look alike amber light. For fear not you will be stoned by the masses for such desecration.
If you think it is too much "trouble" buy a late model, non descript new beetle.
:P
Each to their own just remember what goes around come around.

Good plan Black Math, no one and I mean no one knows what a popped out semaphore is telling them these days.
I'm guilty of this too. Almost ran up the back of a semaphore beetle on a VW cruise last year.
Stick some Harley bullet flashers on the bumpers. Look cool and people notice them when you signal.
I have some of the Hella semaphore replacers in my oval and swear by them. Almost like a high mount indicator. Specially good for folks in 4 wheel
drives who cant see my bumper mounted indicators because they are sitting up too high. Bless them!!!!

Yep, you can get them from Harley specialist shops. They have a lot of cool chrome and billet stuff that can be used on a VeeDub.

Keep the semaphores, add the other indicators, even if you disconnect the semaphores, you wont regret keeping them, you will regret removing them

I reckon you could fit a set of torana tailights in the semaphore hole with a bit of work.
Ooh, suits you sir!
