bed in the bus
I want to put a full time bed in my '77 bus. I want to put down a ply underboard and a matress on top. The problem is supporting the board at the
foot end. Does anyone have a design for a removable support taht doesnt make holes in the walls etc. Thanks

I'm about to head off for a few days but when I get back I can post some pics of mine. If I haven't done it by about Wednesday bump this
topic up to remind me.

A bed for two.........
Here is what I have done. (sorry no pictures as yet.....) I have got the middle seat on my kombi in place. i have had a box made up that takes up the
space where the back seat goes. The lid is flush with the engine bay lid/top. The box sits in the position and is the full width of the vehicle. I
have had it made so it has a hinged lid so you can store stuff (see heaps of it...) in it. It has a ply base that sits in between the two rear wheel
archers and the front of the box comes up level with the back of the middle seat. Then I got myself a mattress from Clark rubber and had it cut to
size and hay presto, one double bed with storage below! No cutting into the body work, no drilling and no screwing....
I will try to post some pictures in the future.
regards

Ive got the deluxe bed in the back of mine!
Three mdf panels that stack on top of each other (over the engine) and then slot together with dowel pegs and then three legs that keep the last panel
up.
I have left my rear seat in and its one that folds down and therefore supports the bed.
I have a $200 futon folded up on the panels and that makes it luxurious!!!

Hi there,
Have a look at the attached thread; it may give you some ideas on what to do for a bed.
I designed the box myself and got it made by a cabinet maker. It is very easy to make, I just didn't have the time or tools.
if you have any questions, U2U me.
Regards
Mick H

The bed/back seat in my 82 camper is simple and registered, with engineers certificate, to carry three passengers. It simply is a seat level with the
rear engine cover so as that the seat and a mattress are level. The seat back can pull out and be inserted into the front of the seat to give extra
length. To do this the seat back has two square tubes, one each side, that plugs into two square tubes at each side of the seat. There is also two
square tubes at the front of the seat that the back will slide into. Simple, effective and legal to register. I will take some photos as soon as I
can and post them.
