basic question about fuel consumption...

Hello everybody, how you doing?

I just got a quick question about fuel consumption on a T1 1600 twin port. It has a 32 pic single carb, no extractors, just a standard engine. What should the fuel consumption be for that (roughly.)

Thanks in advance

I guess you are talking 70's beetle??

my guess would be
8km/L = 12ish L/100km / 22mpg around town

Crikey, VW, from memory, quoted 32mpg Highway, 26mpg City (but I lost the original manual a few years ago.)

My Gregory's in front of me from a Wheels test July 1972 quoted 25.6mpg or 9.05 km/L or 11 L / 100kms OVERALL for 459 mile test

I would be surprised if any late 1600 dp got 26 MPG in the CITY
Early ones yes/maybe (a 1200 or 1300) but not later

I don't want to diss the Gregory's, (OK, I do really, but it might cause legal problems,) but maybe they were using US gallons. I was quoting from my VW's Owner's Manual - and my sick old stocker did better than 26mpg... That was a '70, but I wouldn't expect the '72 that much higher.
