ANY info is welcome, from chassis to exterior info and engine conversions (perfer 2L) to interior info..
Also any warnings about any problems, so then i know what to lok for in my first Fastback.
Thanx for any help.

always good to see new type 3 guys on the forum
2L – if you mean the 73 and up kombi motor, I think they fit well as the cooling shroud is similar and draws air from the back.
but......
The motor is great for pushing a loaded bus, and restricted in horsepower by the cam and heads (max power @4200).
here are some champs that have taken this idea to another level:

but there are other options.

There are reported problems that a type 3 engine runs hotter, I dont know of any truth to that. The main problem I see with type 3's is that you
cant fit carbs under the deck. Maybe some dcn's on short mainfolds, but if you want to go shit hot and need some idf's etc then they will
stick up. Possibly not an issue if its not a wagon.
I ran a 2 litre kombi engine with a cam and idfs in a square back for a while. It was DAMN loud. Had to fold a little bit of metal up so the manifolds
wouldnt foul coming up into the cargo area. I didnt have overheating problems in it, but it wasnt a long term test and was far from livable. Im now
running a 2 litre turbo in a fastback. They fit in OK with some trimming of tinware. The temps havent been a problem in normal driving, but get it out
onto a track and it runs a lot warmer than I would like.
You can run the engine in type 1 configuration which is what most of the yanks seem to do.

DUde Id be keen to do a fastback but change the engine over to an uprite type and bugger the fact that I have a boot.
Fasties are way cool. Have a square myself but am contantly frustrated by the limiting tuning configerations due to the wagon body. Am looking for a
good 60's shape fasty myself to change all my good stuff over to.
If you have looked at a cream fasty in South Perth with Queensland plates its not worth more than $500 the guys selling it are dreamers everything on
the car is broken.
