Putting a 12v genny in a 36hp

My 61 Karmann Ghia has a 40hp engine that has a 36hp fan shroud on. Not sure if the fan housing is original for the year but the engine is original to the car.

Can anyone tell me if I change the generator pedestal to a later 12v one, if its possible to put a 12v generator in there. I'm converting the car to 12V

Thanks

Steve

Sounds like you have a non fresh air 40hp engine.
The 12 genny and stand will bolt right on no worries.

Yes i confirm that what Dave said, but do the conversion while the engine is out of the car makes it much easier toset up and get the fan belt running true
