= Klub VW Dunal Meanderings =
For those that missed out.
Too bad.
But your welcome to come along next time if you think your ride had the nads to go where the common VW generally isn't excepted.
The weekend of 2/3 November had a good show of Offroad Buggies and Bajas up, around, along, and down the dunes of Stockton Beach.
Once again the Sharpbuilts strutted their top quality comfort and ground ripping grunt by rattling some 4x4 fillings and regrooving the beach for a
new set of dunes to be formed over the next few weeks of wind and tide.
The Manx's must be italian, although I know there not. Man they are the sexiest swb buggy ever with there high hung curves and deep hues making
the dunes home. Faultlessly the scaled escarpments, topped land speed records and painted funny faces on their pilots all weekend.
These was a very sleek lwb Astum piloted by a local which was some minor mechanical probs but looks bloody on the desktop of my PC as the pic of the
weekend for detail and care. Another magic looking machine was a perfect little blue J&S buggy that has me more than a little bit envious.
The Dog-O-War was joined by a Local Baja Bug, John's 61 who, with his little navigator never faulted in the sand all day on the Saturday. Having
conquered the 5psi powder sands failed to show on the Sunday so the Dog was alone and scrambling to keep up with only 1300cc to push it. We
didn't climd the highest dunes and we were always last but it didn't break either, so I'm happy.
We managed an applause with a bit of sand ploughing air acrobatics but the judges didn't see it so it was put down to experience and worth
retelling around the campfire one lated night.
The weather was dissappointing. For those of us who had windows we wound them up Saturday and down on Sunday. Their was gale force winds (80+
K's) sandblasting the machinery Saturday and then the place becoming a giant BBQ plate Sunday (40 degrees at times between the dunes). No one
complained, much. We were all having too much fun.
We met Dave a longboard rider searching for waves in his 2l Bajabus. A jacked, packed party bus capable of taking a trophy or two in it own right.
Thanks to Sharpbuilt - 'The Buggy Specialists' for sponsoring the trophies for the State of Origin Shootout. Once again the Toads quashed
the Roaches but somehow I think that will change next shootout now that they've shaken the tree.
The next Stockton event is in April which is a joint event between Klub VW and the Newly formed Manx Club. The weather should be much better, with
less whiteout and hopefully some moisture to pack the sand a bit.
Pictures and a bit of a story will appear on the Klubs website in the near future. Until then here some choice shots from my snapper.
Happy Dubbin, Whatever your ride!

Forgot to mention this legendary beast! The T'owd, a genuine Meyers Manx, tubechassis buggy which most event shames all rivals but this time
overdosed on the sad sack pills and didn't want to perform. Knowing Kevin as little as I do, somehow I don't think the mild replacement mill
in this dune shuttle will be serving next event. The throughbread, flamethrowing granny scarer will be slotted in and panicing the neighbours well
before hand.
Incedently I believe this is the only road registered T'owd in Oz. If you can prove me wrong, I'd be happy to say theirs two out there.

Kevins copilot, Barb had her own purple sharpbuilt machine last weekend with a 2.4 litre snort tearing mountian leveller slinging it all over the
dunes.
Here's a shot of the buggies lined up on the Sunday while the kids cooled off in the surf. We were on our way up to Anna Bay a beach run of about
15 K's I guess to enjoy a drink, laugh about the weekends bogs and oggle at the trophy hunters rewards.

This last Pic is a glimpse of the Baja Bus that stumbled across us soon after arriving on the beach. Daves from Paramatta and uses this machine to get
out of the rat-race and do some surfing.
For a better read of the weekend visit the Klub VW site and oggle the full gallery of events pics. Better than that, Buy a buggy and come and join us.
The only time you'll regret it is that first two minutes of being bogged, then three of your new mates are there to give you a shove.
Wouldn't it be great if life was like that all the time.
Thanks Guys!
