Soundproofing the engine
Hi guys,
Is it possible to soundproof the noise from the engine? I'm driving a 72 Super Beetle and about to have a baby. I need to reduce the engine
"noise". I got standard exhaust with VROOM (???) tailpipe. Any opinion is much welcome.

it might sound hard to believe, but the noise wont be an issue millions of babies , including many people on this forum spent their early years,
including coming home from hospital --in a beetle, the constant engine drone from a car is actually better as it masks other sudden loud noises that
will wake a baby, hope I have explained it well

Couldnt agree more with Kim... the noise wont bother any child... they love it.
At least my 2 did.

Since bringing our boy home from the hospital four weeks ago (time flies!) he sleeps best when sitting right in front of the engine!

yep , if the kids ( 4 off them ) were a bit grumbly, we'd take them for a ride in the Kombi and they would fall asleep. ( Maybe thats why they
all own kombi's now )

Hey, thanks people. I'll try to "brainwash" my wife about the "noise". I kinda agree with you all. The purr of the engine
will make the baby comfy. As for vw54 looks like you're the only one with a beetle so if I may isk you, what kind of baby seat did you have? I
have a bit of problem with the recent market baby seats (for a new born) available for a tight space in the beetle. :thumb

baby seats
my partner and I have two beetles and one new baby and a baby love capsule. the only way I could get any capsule two fit was to remove the back rest
portion of the rear seat but leave the bench part in. it means the bugs are now 2+ bub but it does give a lot more accessible rear storage space. I
fitted the capsule mount in the middle of the bench by driilling two new mount points through the reinforced seat belt mount found under the rear
bench and then using a safe and sound pull fastener to lock capsule mount down real nice and tight. our capsule has a docking station that stays in
car. I then put in capsule (minus baby)and took for wild ride with sharp turns and crazy braking to see if i could get capsule to tip etc but it
stayed fast so all good. it is a snug fit but baby seems comfy and enjoys engine noise etc.

i spent a great number of times hanging in the rear of one(the boot above the motor)and the motor didn't even come to mind
