painting order of operations


hey guys i was just wondering... im goning to re spray my lil bro's car and theres a few things i forgot from tafe ( i knew i should have taken notes) any way im only sanding the paint to ruffen it up then applying primer the paint....ect ect

the part i forgot is the first thing i do :(

is it washing the car with wax and grease remover ??

then following with sanding surface primer guide coat then sanding again then paint and then clear.

any way any help would be great thanks

I'm definetly no expert, i just started to learn to paint my 67 as i'm going along. One thing ive been doing religiously from every coat since bare metal is to wipe the suface with prep solvent , wet the floor (and not because i'm excited either) to keep down the dust, then tack rag it just before paint. Ive done that process for etch primer, primer and final paint and im pretty happy so far. also dont forget the water filter at the base of the gun, the guy at my paint shop swears by them, (and at them to for that matter) . Hope that helps

sand down whip down/blow off with compressor then whip it down with wax and grease remover and then apply paint
