64 notch too low ???
To all the type 3 gurus. I bough My 64 notch already lowered, and without driving it as the engine was out. I have now driven it and it is twitchy in
the front. Ball joints, etc are ok but the bump stops have been cut of. could this be bump steer causing the unsettledness as it is too low ? how do
your seriously lowered cars ride ? I hope there is a simple solution as I like the slammed look, if anything the rear could come up a bit to give it a
slight rake. any help would be appreciated.

My 65 has been lowered with dropped spindles & a little turn on the bars, handles pretty much like standard. Dropped spindles will allow you to
keep the standard suspension travel. Not the cheapest but I reckon worth it.

Looking at some of you type 3 guys' cars I would say if it still turns twitchy or not, it is not low enough?

Sounds like bump steer, dude. Have a look at your steering arms when the front suspension is on load. If they're at an angle (not straight
across, horizontal) then whenever you hit a bump, it turns the wheels. You can get a "quick steer" kit (had one on my lowered bug).
They're made for the off-road boys, for raised front ends with the same problems. It sits on the steering box and sets the tie rod ends offset
and higher or lower. Depending if you're running lowered or raised suspension. I just ran it reversed to how the normally are set-up, and it
worked a treat.
But do watch those balljoints. They have a tendency to jump out on ya, and then you'll know slammed

DROPPED SPINDLES ON A T3 ?????????
1964 that aint very low, shouldnt be casuing probs ! gotta b somehting else
they were made once in the states i think but they never took off as they werent needed, are these realy dropped spindles u talk of ?

yep, really dropped spindles on a type 3!! Custom Bugs & Buses in Penrith made them. Work a treat!

welded are they?
i know u can weld t1 spindles but i dint think u could weld t3 ones as they are a different steel and will never be as strong........
just what i have been told, and interested on how they did them

haven't got any pics, can't see much when they're on the car anyway! They never mentioned any probs putting them together, but I never
really asked. They suggested them to me so I guess they've done it before, all is cool so far!

Yeah skewy, I reckon they are welded. Took about a week from drive in to drive out.
