push button squirter problems 71 kombi


hey there

my 71 kombi campers squiters are not working ,
are they supposed to work off vacumn pressure somewhere ?
because when i pump the switch no water is coming out of the squiters .
can anyone help me with this ?

and even tell me how the lines are hooked up ?

If your talking about the windscreen washers, then its pressure. Just in front of your feet, remove the cap, underneath this there is a container to hold the water, has a cap to top up the water and to the side of this a tube with a tire valve on the end. Pump this up to 30 - 35 psi (from memory).
However, usually the valve in the switch fails from old age and they leak.
I converted mine to an electric motor setup many years ago.

Convert it to an electric motor pump much better and they work every time not just when the bottle has air pressure in it.

yeah, what old dubber said. convert to electric. miune was done when i got it and works great.

I need to do this as well.

I havent looked yet - but is it a big job ?

What do you have to do / buy ?

I have seen a kit it supercheap for about $35.00

as far as i can tell all u need is a waterbottle with a small electric motor to pump the water, some mounting brackets to fit it, some new hose to plumb it to the squirters and a new switch on the dash to operate it. should be a quick and simple operation.

the pump should only cost a few bucks!!! get some new piping as this ages aswell!!
