Hi

I have been looking into a similar conversion, I spoke to an Autronic tec bloke and their system hooks straightup the Subby engine, so you only need to run the wires that you need from a simple Autronic system.

I hopr to be picking up my new EJ20T within the next couple of weeks. There is a place here in Sydney that has new (less than 100KM EJ20T engines for about $3K, less flywheel. I have had a look at them and they are VERY nice.

Soory to highjack your post seagul:)

I was looking at front cuts MY99 STIs, $5000, without gearbox and WRXsw $3000 no box, then I talked to Rigollis, they want $2500 to fully rebuild a rex with forged pistons etc so now im thinking a cheaper used motor would be the go and fix it up with the good stuff inside, but those low ks ones sound very good. SDo what your rexy going into peter?

Having recently watched a (admittedly knowledgeable) mechanic re-wire my subi for fitting to a wbx, and basically make up a new harness, a few matters became apparent.
1. Identify ALL the wires on the subi front cut, (which wire goes where)
2. Make sure you use the original ecm that comes with the engine in the front cut.
3. Remove wires that are not needed from the subi harness (things like immobiliser, electric doors and windows and mirrors etc.
4 make sure all the sensors and relays used in the subi engine are kept and connected to the correct wire. While stripping old harness, tape and felt pen are needed to correctly identify all the sensors so they can be reconnected after the harness is shortened to suit. It took my bloke about 5 hours to re build the harness.
good luck.. Btw, you need the wiring diagram specific to your engine and vehicle. They are NOT all created equal, Fuji introducing many variations on the theme as they dreamt up new ideas and production shortcuts. (sounds like VW eh?)

Holly crap those half cuts are $$$$ they go for under $2000 up here complete. You get can a WRX engine for about $1500 complete

also look out for ra series engines as they come standard with forged internals :) but anyway what are you going to do with any more than the 300hp a standard engine can serve up all day long? perhaps there is a race for the first 600hp bug ? let the games begin :vader

Hi

The thing I like about using an after market ECU is that if you want to run more boost, different injectors even a diffrent fuel pump or pressure, the aftermarket ECU will cope with this, not too mention that most after market ECUs have data logging, which I find to be very useful.
