My Trip To Canberra
Hey guys had an interesting day out to Canberra yesterday with Shazza. Went there to go pick up some fireworks for New Years.
As soon as I was going to head out of Sydney i spotted Pete (Speedster356) funny thing is we live like 10mins away from each other and we spotted
ourselves getting out of the toll gates on the M5 outskirts of Sydney (car looks great mate:thumb)
Then im like half an hour away from Canberra and these girls in a Lancer fell in love with Shazza and couldnt stop looking and waving etc so i just
drive a long and then they pull up be side at 100kph and one of the girl has this piece of paper that she wanted to give to me (man it was dangerous
as I was by myself controlling Shazza) I asked her what it is and she said its my number ( to the guy thats looking to find a lass into VW's just
buy a 60's beetle and youll be sweet ) I told her i was engaged and
she got so embarressed so her and her friend said congrats and sped off hahaahaha....
Then I get to Canberra pickup the 2 boxes of fireworks and head home (stopped for lunch too), as I was heading home the Generator light came on didnt
know why car felt ok etc so next exit I pulled over to check everything was ok and it was (oil etc)
As i got to bargo car lost some power then Bang smoke fills the cabin car cuts out (and right behind me was a big semi trailer) i thought $hit Shazzas
on fire again, pullover get my extinguisher out open hood no fire just smoke, but the crazy thing was the extinguisher didnt work pin out and all I
also shat my self too cos i had to boxes of fireworks in the car.
Called NRMA and checked to see any oil leaks or anything nothing so I assumed the Generator died so i got it towed to my mates house and we dicovered
it threw a rod:cry and a little hole in the case
Ah well i was going to be good and bank my money from the tax return looks like now i have to get an engine so im going to get a newly built and
balanced 1600 than get a second hand one again as the same thing will happen if intend on keeping the car
Bad thing is as much as my Mrs loves Shazza she reckons i should sell her but i dont want to, I told my Mrs after this new engine she will be problem
free
Didnt think my trip to Canberra will cost me $1000 ah well it was a good adventure

That'll learn ya Costa. You shouldn't have been smuggling contra across state borders.
No seriously. That sucks mate hope you can get an engine together quickly and without too much expense.

Damn...that was such bad luck
Now I know why so many people were taking the turn off to Canberra when I was heading home on Saturday!!!
Nah....I've bought fireworks before from there...amongst turned off but did a quick calculation of my times and where I wanted to be that
night...
Don't sell Shazza.....they are worth the expense:sandrine (says someone who is considering therapy for her addiction!! )
Can't believe what I did this weekend.....all because I bought a very sweet sunroof for Bel.
I was so worried something like that might happen to Dr L but he ran like clockwork from Melbourne to Bomaderry and back. So glad it wasn't
really hot weather.....:thumb
He got a wash last night as a reward:kiss
Good luck with the engine

I could never sell Shazza and my Mrs doesnt want me to sell her either i think she wasnt thinking straight.
Now that im getting an engine built what should i look for and what should i get?
Im looking for something reliable and and economical so i'd rather trade off performance for reliability as I have the Audi for performance
Shazzas going to be off the road for 2 months and Im already missing her

So the fireworks was a cover story for the Mrs right? How many "movies" did you buy? :P
Hope Shazza's back on the road soon!

I get 2 years warranty so yeah should work out the same in the long run as a second hand one goes for $400 given that lasts a year so over 3 years
$1200 + installation would exceed $1500 so ill go $1500 as a brand new VW engine should last over 2 years right?

hey matara, how good would one of your engines with that tinware look in a country buggy!
XXX-1.8T, i used to always say everything balances out, you get a good thing, then u get a bad thing to even it (or visa-versa). you got to do a
lovely big cruise with shazza, met some lovely young ladies (for most men thats a positive), and you got fireworks. you fu#ked your engine, not you
may have a lead on a low kays original or get the opportunity to rebuild to your own specs making the bug a little more yours.
