1973 Kombi camper engine

I have got a 1973 kombi camper, 1800cc and the motor has been
reconditioned and i am tuneing it at the moment. it has got twin cabs
and is air cooled. when it is at idle it is running really rough on
3and 4 port (i can take the leads off and it makes no diffence) .
Can you help me to run smooth. i have put new points in, changed the
leads over and cleaned the cabarator on the 3 and 4 port side, put a
mew condencer on but it is still running rough. Have you got anyideal
what the problem is? please can you help me. thanks.

Hi, check your idle solenoid on that side, it has a wire going to it, turn the ignition on and pull the wire off, it should make a clicking sound, also make sure it is screwed in tight, they can come loose.

mine did that when one of the valves was gone, but considering it has been reconditioned......

Save water, drive an air cooled Volkswagen.
