PROJECT DILEMA-what to do !!

well its like this......

Amongst other projects on the boil , I would like to have (registered) an offroad vw vehicle and a street/hoon vw vehicle. I have both vehicles already, one being a J&S buggy(base 1916cc) the other a 1968 beetle semi auto converted to manual ((steroids 1916cc). Up untill now the buggy was going to be built for offroad and the beetle was going to be for the street...........

I have starting thinking I should use the buggy for the street and turn the beetle into an offroad Baja :o

WHY HAVE I CHANGED MY MIND:jesus

Well the buggy would be quicker as it is lighter (also use the steroids 1916cc) no roof, so good to cruise on summer days, and has minimal storage space (not needed for hooning)!!!

The beetle as a Baja would be protected from the mud, rain, Dust etc when offroading, would have a heap more storage (take out the back seat) and would still look different (use the base 1916cc)

Am I getting to old and fussy, should I be enjoying the opportunity of getting covered in mud dust etc:D and then hooning in a nice performance beetle:cool:

What would you do........................

YES! GO BAJA! That actually sounds like a good idea, as we all know that all that buggys are good for are low street machines...

If ya want some Baja panels, there is a mate here in Macksville that has one sitting in his parents yard rotting away.

no pics sorry, but that is a big part of the dilema, the beetle has 21000 miles on the clock, although the exterior needs a full respray (surface rust) and its missing the interior.

I have already started on the beetle as a road car, whiteline swaybars, type 3 torsion bars, adjustable and modified front beam, Koni's, seam welded body shell and pan, VDO dash, GTI seats etc etc ....all these parts would be used in the buggy,so once I cut the shell for the Baja that's it, no turning back !!!!

whereas the buggy could be changed from offroad to street with a change of suspension componets, everything else would be the same !!!

But I don't want to buy another car, I want to use what I have.

And I don't want to continually change the buggy.

that's the dilema:(

Yes-Thats the way to go-cruising around in the scrub not getting burnt and covered in dust sounds like a good idea. After I finish my Oval, my next one is a '66 Beetle with Country Buggy running gear-that should be a good offroader.Picked up a NOS Repco under dash air conditioner that I will try to fit as well.

wibble, I would probably use a bug eye kit, but for $150 your kit would be ok to use:D:D

well after a few "wild turkeys" and the flip of a coin the verdict is ...................................................................................................................................................... ..................... offroad buggy !!!

the other option was too sensible :D

But thanks to all that replied :thumb

I will keep the Pajero in the garage, and if I need to take loads of gear use that !!

Good to see common sense prevailed:D Why not just build a kick ass buggy that will rule on and off the street.

hi craig. i've got the perfect solution.... you can sell me all of the road suspension stuff and the 'roids motor for say $10 then you can just concentrate on the off road stuff. sounds good to me. i'll even help you get the buggy body back down from where it is hanging (if you haven't already).
